Is Joker 2 a musical?

Yes, in a jukebox sense. The songs are staged as fantasies and performances rather than characters realistically breaking into song, so the film still plays as a drama with musical interludes.

Do I need to watch the first Joker before this one?

It is not strictly required, but the sequel references the earlier events constantly, so watching the 2019 film first makes the trial scenes and character relationships much easier to follow.

Who plays Harley Quinn in Joker 2?

Lady Gaga appears as Lee Quinzel, a version of the character who exists in this film's own continuity rather than as a direct continuation of earlier screen versions.
